A Night to Belong: Arsenal's Impact Beyond the Pitch
In a heartwarming gathering, over 250 individuals came together at Emirates Stadium, uniting for a cause that goes far beyond the beautiful game. Night to Belong, hosted by The Arsenal Foundation, was a powerful reminder of the club's commitment to making a difference, both locally and on a global scale.
After a seven-year break, this event marked a significant milestone, showcasing the Foundation's vital role in supporting the club's purpose. It was a night to celebrate and reinforce the bond between Arsenal and its communities.
But here's where it gets controversial... or rather, inspiring! The evening brought together an incredible mix of players, legends, and leaders. Men's captain Martin Ødegaard and women's captain Kim Little, alongside Mikel Arteta and Renée Slegers, took center stage, reflecting on the club's responsibility to its global community.
"When you wear this badge, you carry the weight of history and a sense of duty," Ødegaard shared. "What sets us apart is the bond between the team, our fans, and our community. We're building something special, and that unity fuels us daily."
Kim Little added, "Arsenal feels like home because of our shared values and community. We recognize the power we have to uplift each other. It's about leaving a positive legacy for future generations, beyond just football."
The funds raised support an incredible array of programs. Locally, they engage over 6,000 individuals weekly, providing safe spaces, trusted mentors, and pathways to education, employment, and well-being support. Globally, initiatives like Coaching for Life, in partnership with Save the Children in Jordan's Za'atari refugee camp, use football to help displaced youth build essential life skills in a supportive environment.
Since its launch, Coaching for Life has graduated over 6,000 young people, with an equal gender balance in every cycle. This is a testament to the program's impact and inclusivity.
Freddie Hudson, Arsenal's Director of Community, emphasized, "Our strength lies in the pride and deep connection people feel towards Arsenal. It's our duty to extend that sense of belonging to those who may lack it in their lives. For decades, we've consistently worked to create safe spaces, build trust, and open doors to opportunity. This trust and consistency, made possible by The Arsenal Foundation's funding, allow us to positively impact lives, whether in north London or across the globe."
Mairead King, Director of The Arsenal Foundation, added, "Our mission is to foster a sense of belonging in our communities. Events like tonight help us achieve this, funding programs that create safe spaces and opportunities. Our approach remains consistent, from Islington to the toughest environments worldwide. We're proud to collaborate with partners who share our club's values to make this impact."
And this is the part most people miss... The Arsenal Foundation's partnerships are key to its success. Night to Belong highlighted collaborations with Save the Children, Willow Foundation, and Islington Giving. These partnerships are the backbone of the Foundation's work, enabling it to reach and support communities in need.
